N:
Use as a subdivision to other composers' names for general comparative analyses or works from several genres, or broad comparisons of stylistic features (e.g. Schubert, Franz--Comparative studies).
T:
Must be subdivided by topic (architecture; art, literature, natural phenomena; music; philosophy; poetry; sports). When subdividing by Music, add period subdivision, e.g. Music--Classical period. When subdividing by Art, Literature, or Philosophy, may also subdivide by country and century, e.g. Literature--Germany--19th century. For comparisons of two or more Beethoven works to each other, or a work to a Beethoven document (e.g. the Heiligenstadt Testament) add subdivision: Beethoven to Beethoven
W:
Add a heading for the specific opus number or genre with the subdivision "Compared with" followed by the artists' name and title of the work, i.e.: Opus 57--Compared with Bronte, Emily. Wuthering Heights. Make a reciprocal heading for the other work, i.e.: Bronte, Emily. Wuthering Heights--Compared with Opus 57. Do not add other subdivisions to the Opus number (e.g. "Opus 57--Meter--Compared with Schubert, Franz. Sonatas, piano, D. 959, A major--Meter" is not allowed). Instead add a separate heading for Opus 57--Meter.
SN:
Comparisons of Beethoven's music with other musical works or one or more works of art (or Beethoven documents), concentrating on explicit or implied relationships to and/or influences upon each other; also includes comparisons of Beethoven's documents (e.g. letters) to those of other composers
