SN:
Classical ritornello form which assimilates principles of structure evident in sonata form. The design is a modified version of the Vivaldi type with four ritornellos (R1-R4) and three solo sections (S1-S3). Here the final solo, S3, begins and ends in the tonic and tends to parallel S1 thematically. Thus, S3, now resembles the recapitulation of a sonata-form movement. Moreover, S1 had always been comparable to an exposition and S2 to a development section, owing to their modulatory schemes (e.g., I-V for S1, V-vi for S2; real thematic development is uncommon in S2 during the 18th century, however) (New Harvard Dictionary of Music (1986), p. 188-189)
