In 1865, the Wiener Staatsoper commissioned a bust of Beethoven by Anton Dietrich, which was done in Istrian stone and installed at the opera house in 1867. The plaster model of this sculpture is in the great hall of the Musikverein building in Vienna (Cf. Comini, p. 43-44, and Alai, p. 27).
