Monument by Max Klinger (1857-1920) showing Beethoven deep in thought sitting naked on a throne with a cloak on his lap and a black eagle at his feet. The monument was displayed at the 1902 Beethoven exhibition in Vienna. Now the property of the Museum der Bildenden Kunste in Leipzig, it is on loan to the Leipzig Gewandhaus where it is displayed in the foyer. A colored plaster model is in the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn.
