Plaster bust of Beethoven by Johann Nepomuk Schaller (1777-1842), once owned by Fanny Linzbauer, who presented it as a gift to the Royal Philharmonic Society in London in 1871 (now on loan to the British Library). Five additional plaster casts were made and presented to Cambridge University, the Royal Academy of Music, the Royal Society of Musicians, the Crystal Palace, and Broadwood & Sons. A small replica in Parian (white porcelain) was given to Queen Victoria (cf. Alai, p. 36). According to Comini, one copy formerly owned by H.C. Bodmer is now at the Bodleian Library, Oxford. A medallion by John Pinches uses the Schaller sculpture as its model
